Kittitas County 4-H <br />901 E 7'"Avenue,Suite 2 •Ellensburg,WA 98926 <br />Phone (509)962-7507 Fax (509)962-7574 <br />April 14,2017 <br />Lodging Tax Advisory Committee <br />City of EIIensburg <br />501 N.Anderson St <br />EIIensburg,WA 98926 <br />RE:Kittitas Valley Event Center Upgrades and Remodels(Barns Project). <br />The Kittitas County 4-HIFFA Livestock Committee is in full supportof the Kittitas Valley <br />Event Center Upgrades and Remodels(Barns Project). <br />The 4-H and FFA Livestock Programs have grown significantly over the last 20 years; <br />for most of that time the barn facilities at the fairgrounds have been inadequate for the <br />number of exhibitors and animals.This has caused concerns for the safety and well- <br />being of animalsand youth. <br />WSU Kittitas County Extension's4-H Youth DevelopmentProgram is one of the largest <br />youth-serving organizationsin the county,with approximately450 youth enrolled in <br />educationalprograms leading to acquisition of critical life skills,reduced risk of <br />dangerous behaviors,increased educational attainment,and enhanced citizenship <br />skills. <br />The Barns Project would promote tourism and community in Kittitas County by providing <br />a highly useable space for a multi-usearea for a variety of events year-round and the 4- <br />HIFFA Livestock Committee,representing the heaviest users of that space,supports <br />this effort wholeheartedly. <br />Mark Crowley,President <br />4-HIFFA Livestock Committee <br />WSU Extension Programs and employment are available to all without discrimination <br />Evidence of noncompliance may be reported through your local WSU Extension office
