architectural narrative <br />General <br />The Ellensburg Rodeo Arena is located at the North end of the Kittitas Valley Event Center in <br />Ellensburg,Washington.The Design Development concept includes demolition of an existing <br />grandstand to the northwest and a grandstand located at the northeast.In their place,new <br />grandstands are proposed which will provide for a safe and enhanced viewing environment. <br />Supporting toilet rooms,concession stands,a staging area for riders,a bar,and gathering area <br />for fans,are proposed to replace existing facilities and support the new stands and occupants. <br />For more information on restroom fixture counts,please reference the appendix for the <br />restroom distribution matrix.Portable toilets are brought in to complete the total facility needs <br />during the annual four day Rodeo event. <br />Site Organization <br />The grandstands and supporting facilities are proposed to be located where the existing <br />facilities are currently.Traffic flow of pedestrians will be enhanced by rebuilding the <br />skywalk connection to the fair at the south and by providing accessible pathway,for those <br />in wheelchairs,around the new facilities from the northeast to the west end the site.Also, <br />pedestrian circulation will be enhanced through an elevated connecting pedestrian walkway <br />beneath the grandstands,allowing flow from the stair connected to the fairgrounds at the south <br />around toward the Buckaroo Grandstand.The Buckaroo Grandstand will permit pedestrian <br />travel up and over animal circulation access from the north end of the site to the pens beneath <br />the grandstand.Support buildings make use of free space beneath the stands,and are <br />organized to integrate with the new grandstand structure. <br />Grandstandsand Premium Seating <br />New grandstands are proposed to be added to the northwest and northeast areas of the site. <br />The following criteria will be incorporated into the design of the stands: <br />design development report •also architects (01-24-2017)
