1.Project Description: Please describe the project in detail. Indicate the major work to <br />be completed, any milestones that need to be overcome in order for the project to <br />move forward, and include a comparison of existing and proposed conditions. <br />The Teanaway Yakima Rivers Confluence provides safe and lawful access, egress, <br />parking for recreation users of the Yakima River at the Teanaway outfall. Several <br />conditions make for dangerous and deplorable conditions for the public. <br />Lack of adequate off-road parking. <br />No sanitary facilities. <br />Concurrent vehicle, rail, boat, wildlife and foot travel. <br />Many stakeholders: WA DOT, WA Fish and Wildlife, Kittitas County Sheriff, <br />Washington State Patrol, Burlington Northern Railway, private land owners, sport <br />fisherman, rafters and inner tube floaters present many challenges. <br />All milestones are outstanding for this multi-year endeavor: <br />1)Identifying all the stakeholders. <br />2)Initial public meetings. <br />3)Confirm the current site or choose a better alternative. <br />4)Determine the area requiring purchase. <br />5)Establish right-of-way required, if any. <br />6)Refine budget from previous estimated figures in this document. <br />7)Develop project plan for implementation. <br /> Project completion would allow: <br />Safe and sanitary river access. <br />Attract recreational tourists. <br />1.Kittitas County Tourism Infrastructure Plan: Please explain how the project <br />meets the Goals and Actions in the Kittitas County Tourism Infrastructure Plan as <br />adopted. Also, describe the specific county tourism infrastructure needs the project <br />addresses and how the project directly increases tourism. Explain how the <br />improvements will promote tourism in Kittitas County and indicate specifically how the <br />improvements will directly increase economic activity resulting from tourists. <br />Goal 1- Kittitas County Tourism Infrastructure Plan: <br />Develop integrity of place - enhance Kittitas County’s geographical character by <br />developing and improving the environment, agriculture, recreation, heritage, and <br />culture in distinctive ways to differentiate Kittitas County from other areas and to <br />engender local community pride. This project changes an unsafe and <br />unpleasant experience for residents and tourists alike to a safe and fun <br />experience for all parties while removing arduous burdens on law <br />enforcement agencies. <br />Goal 2 - Kittitas County Tourism Infrastructure Plan: <br />Be market selective - encourage growth in tourism market segments most likely to <br />appreciate, respect, and disseminate information about the distinctive assets. <br />Kittitas County including environmental, agricultural, heritage, and cultural <br />segments that are not as currently well known and frequented as recreational.
