10 <br /> <br />Kittitas County Homelessness and Housing Profile <br /> <br />To get a picture of what homelessness and housing issues look like in Kittitas County, data was examined <br />from three main sources: <br />• US Census American Community Survey 2010-2014 5 year estimates <br />• The Washington State Office of Financial Management, Forecasting and Research Division, 2015 <br />estimates <br />• The 2014 Continuum of Care Community Needs Assessment of Kittitas County by HopeSource <br /> <br />Geography <br />Kittitas County is located in Central/Eastern Washington State between Snoqualmie Pass in the Cascade <br />Mountains on the West border and the Columbia River on the East border. King County, the largest <br />population base in the state lies to the West, Chelan County to the North, Grant County to the East, and <br />Yakima County to the South. The majority of services not available in Kittitas County are available in <br />Yakima or King Counties. <br /> <br />Population <br />Kittitas County is a rural county with approximately 43,000 people. About 45% of the population lives in <br />unincorporated areas of the county.
