<br />Page 6│Kittitas County Air Quality Survey│9/30/2014 <br /> <br />In 2012, a steering committee of key community partners was gathered to identffy and prioritfze <br />issues affectfng the health of the local community. Issues were identffied based on data from the <br />2012 Kittitas County Community Health Assessment. Poor air quality was identffied as an area of <br />concern, however, a lack of financial resources prevented the issue from becoming an immediate <br />priority. Ecology recognized the need for support and partnered with KCPHD to implement an air <br />quality project. The project would begin with a county wide assessment and conclude with an <br />educatfon and outreach campaign to minimize the impact of improper burning behaviors. The <br />primary objectfves of this assessment were to collect community informatfon and determine the <br />following: <br /> Beliefs and attitudes regarding air quality <br /> General knowledge level regarding air quality in Kittitas County <br /> General knowledge around clean burning practfces <br /> Inventory of residentfal wood burning appliances and indoor burning practfces <br /> Prevalence of outdoor burning behaviors that contribute to PM2.5 <br /> Effectfve avenues for educatfon and outreach <br /> FIGURE 3: KCPHD Logic Model for Assessment
