ZEMPEL AUG 13 2026 <br /> CHAIRMAN VJTTITAS COUNTY <br /> BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br /> KITTITAS COUNTY REPUBLICAN PARTY <br /> Dear Board of County Commissioners <br /> A quorum of the duly elected and appointed Central <br /> Committee of the Kittitas County Republican Party gathered on <br /> August 3, 2026, for the purpose of listening to four candidates <br /> who had placed their names into consideration to be nominated to <br /> replace departing Commissioner Wright. The statutory scheme <br /> requires the local party to submit a list of three candidates <br /> for consideration by the Board of Commissioners . <br /> Our process consisted of each candidate being asked the <br /> same set of questions and being given the same amount of time to <br /> answer those questions. After the four candidates had the <br /> opportunity to present, voting took place amongst the Central <br /> Committee members present. For each round of voting that ensued, <br /> there had to be a candidate with a majority of the votes to be <br /> slotted into a position. Based upon the voting, we placed the <br /> candidates as follows: <br /> 1 . Jeff Leichleiter; <br /> 2 . Josh Cox; and <br /> 3.
