KITTITAS COUNTY BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS STAFF REPORT FOR STUDY SESSION Information Technology STUDY SESSION DATE: 5/26/26 TOPIC: GIS program update ACTION REQUESTED: No Action - Information Only LEAD STAFF: Zane Kinney RECOMMENDATION: No recommendation requested. BRIEFING SUMMARY: Information regarding the current state of the County GIS program BACKGROUND: IT wishes to update the Board on the many different GIS projects and initiatives that it is currently in progress or planning in the near term. DISCUSSION: • The Assessor's Parcel Fabric solution was recently upgraded to Parcel Fabric Pro. Pro West and Associates (PWA) was instrumental in this migration. The project was very successful. • Public Works Roads Atlas project was assigned to PWA. The project has suffered delays due to PWA's staffing turnover. We are expecting a meeting between PWA, IT, and Public Works late next week, which should begin the hand-off of deliverables to Public Works. • IT is in the process of moving GIS services to new servers and updating how they are published. This is technical requirement and we hope that this also improves COMPAS performance, which has been problematic in recent weeks. • IT will begin rebuilding our default basemap next week. This project will be performed by IT with assistance and direction by PWA. This should improve COMPAS performance and ensure the timely update of parcel, road, and other data to the basemap. • Noxious Weed Control Board uses a custom-built application vital to their work. Updates to Esri's platform require this application to be deprecated. We have begun working with PWA to replace this with a solution using tools offered as part of our ArcGIS enterprise agreement.
