That year, 532,228 chiidren were confirmed as victims of maltreatment that <br />year; and <br />ryHEREAS, child abuse and neglect is a serious problem affecting every segment of our community, and finding <br />solutions requires input and action from everyone' and <br />WHEREAS, our children are our most valuable resource and the foundation of our future, communities must <br />prioritize and promote programs and activities that foster strong, thriving children and families; and <br />ryHEREA5, child abuse can have long-term psychological, emotional, and physical effects that have lasting <br />consequences for victims of abuse; and <br />WHEREAS, protective factors are conditions that recluce or elirninate risk ancl promote the social, etnotioual, <br />and developnrental vvell-beirlg of cl-rildren: and <br />wHEREA5,elfbctive child abLrse prevention activities succeecl because of the partrlerships created betr'veen child <br />w,ellare prof-essio'als, edr-rcation, irealth. conrmunity.'- aucl f-aith-based orgatrizations- busitlesses. law <br />enlbrcement agencies, and tamilies, ancl <br />wHEREAS, ,,r,,e ackr.)owledge that rve must w'ork together as a colllllltLrrity to itlcrease alvaretless aboltt <br />chilcl abuse a'cl contribLrte to promote the social ancl emotional well-bein-q of children and fanrilies in <br />a safe. stable. and tturtttring etlvirot.tmetrt: and <br />WHEREAS, prevention remains the best defense for our children and families; <br />Now, THEREFORE, the Kittitas county Board of commissioners proclaim Aprll2026 as National child Abuse <br />prevention Month in Kittitas County and call upon ali citizens, community agencies, faith groups, medicai facilities, <br />elected leaders and businesses in Kittitas Couniy to participate in the efforts to support families, thereby preventing <br />child abuse and strengthening the communities in which we live. <br />Dated this 7th day of April' 2026' <br />THE KITTITAS couNTy <br />BOARD FCO STONERS <br />rman <br />k of the Board <br />Commissioner
