The Committee met regularly through 2024 and have worked with CDS staff to successfully adopt a short term rental definition and create a survey to better understand the public desire for short term rental regulations. The survey has been drafted and is ready for distribution. In a regular meeting on January 16, 2025, some members of the Short-Term Rental Committee asked for clarity on the charter of the Committee. The Resolution that created the Committee states that the Kittitas County Short Term Rental Committee "shall be responsible to determine the need for legislation related to short term rentals in the County." The Committee and staff are seeking guidance from the Commissioners to determine if the Committee work will end once they determine whether short term rental regulations are necessary, or if the Committee charge should be clarified to include work on drafting regulations, should they determine that regulations are desirable.
