-MINUTES- <br /> PUBLIC LAND USE ADVISORY COMMITTEE <br /> March 14, 2022 3:00 PM <br /> BoCC Auditorium/WebEx Meeting <br /> Present:Anita Boyum, Bill Essman, Dave Duncan, Gary Berndt, Greg Parker, Keith Winter, Marc Eylar, <br /> Pat Deneen, Steve Worley, and Chairman Commissioner Wright <br /> Absent: Bridget Wood and Bradley Gasawski. <br /> Also Present:Joe Rausch and CDS Clerk-Jessica Miller <br /> I. Approve minutes—November 15,2021 <br /> a. Motion by Anita Boyum to approve the minutes. Motion seconded by Rory Savage. <br /> Discussion - none. Motion passed unanimously. <br /> II. Introduction of New District Ranger for the Cie Elum Ranger District—Joe Rausch <br /> a. Joe Rausch provided background on his previous work experience and shared his goals <br /> and objectives for the future. He stated one of the main changes he has seen here is the <br /> amount of recreation that we get from the Westside and from Kittitas County. His <br /> approach is to take time listening to everyone's concerns and how they think things <br /> could be done better.Another objective is to have more forest recreation restoration <br /> for wildfire risk reduction and to provide forest products to support the rural <br /> community. <br /> III. Discussion—PLAC Future Direction <br /> Commissioner Wright and Gary Berndt provided a background of the Public Lands Advisory <br /> Committee's origination and the reasoning for coming together and forming the committee. <br /> Commissioner Wright presented a PowerPoint to the committee about where we are as a <br /> county, why the PLAC is necessary and the responsibilities of PLAC. <br /> Committee members were asked to participate in a SWOT exercise, collecting what the <br /> members state are the internal strengths, internal weaknesses, external opportunities, and <br /> external threats of Kittitas County. Out of this exercise, goals will be developed and presented to <br /> the BoCC. Committee members provided examples for internal strengths, internal weaknesses, <br /> and external opportunities for the SWOT exercise. Commissioner Wright stated he will email out <br /> the document and committee members can start adding external threats and then they will <br /> complete this part together at the next scheduled meeting. <br /> Commissioner Wright discussed some defined topics including Strande Rd, DFW plan, and <br /> Springwood Ranch/KRD project. He stated we as a committee, do not want to lose sight of these <br /> defined topics but also want to start looking at broader topics as well. <br />
