GERKE CLAYTON MYERS
Secretary
ERIN CONDIT
On behalf of Friends of the Northern Pacific Depot, I would like to thank the following; Judy
Warnick, Matt Manweller, Janea Holmquist Newbry, and the budgeting committee in Olympia
who helped the Depot secure a $500,000 grant in 2014 which was used to restore certain parts of
the historic Depot building.
We would also like to thank all of the elected officials in Ellensburg and the people of
Ellensburg that helped contribute the restoration of the train depot. The restoration project is
approximately two-thirds of the way done and we estimate it will take about $650,000 more
(including sales tax)to finish. (see attached Schedule for Phase III) After more than 5 years of
hard work and more than $1,500,000 of expenditures, we are very close to completing the project
and we are doing everything we can to preserve the historical value and significance of the train
depot.
Each wing of the Depot has approximately 1,400 square feet of rentable space available, and in
addition, there is another 1,400 square feet upstairs. All of this is available for use and rent by
the public. The upper floor is particularly suited to professional services businesses and this will
help maintain the historic theme and quality of the building. There is also 4,000 square feet of
event space available for rent for weddings, receptions and community gatherings. It is vitally
important to rent this available space to cover taxes and maintenance for the building annually
and for ensuring the building stays in good repair.
We are optimistic that the train depot will become the jewel of Ellensburg and that people will
get to enjoy the history of the town and how the train depot was instrumental in both establishing
and growing Ellensburg through the transporting of passengers and goods & services for local
businesses.
We hope you'll join us in donating to this wonderful and rewarding project. We are continuing
to work with our legislators and potential new donors in trying to get this project done. As
4827-9193-0914.02
50779.00011
